And the blu ray presentation is no slouch either. It was one of the earlier films to be presented in blu ray being released in December of Some may think the video quality is subpar compared to current releases but I find it really pretty good for being from blu rays infancy.
The colors pop and flesh tones are very realistic. The clarity and crispness that blu ray allows raises the video presentation to a level far above that of the dvd.
The true gift here though is the audio. The 5. Dialogue is strong and present and surround speakers are put to effective use with all the action sequences.
This film will definitely be a treat viewed with your home theater system. So in my opinion this is an average film that becomes much greater due to Jodie Foster and the very good blu ray presentation.

Jodie Foster gives yet another stunning performance in this nail-biting thriller. The tension is racked up right through to the last minute in this seemingly impossible tale of a lost child on an aircraft I have seen parts of this film a few times on TV, but never actually managed to sit down and watch the whole thing from start to finish, so I eventually took the plunge and bought it on DVD.
It is a very good film, anyone that liked Panic Room or is into tense Thrillers will love this film! I would imagine the Blu-ray copy to be out soon and may consider buying that to replace my DVD copy at some point in the future if there is a big enough improvement in quality some older films are only marginally better on Blu-ray than DVD, so not worth the premium for Blu-ray.

First off, the director Robert Schwentke really knows how to tell a story and keep you involved in it. All the actors were very believable in their roles and you can't go wrong in having Jodie heading the cast.
It was also nice to see Sean Bean Captain Rich get a role that doesn't portray him as a villain for once.
Be sure to watch the great extras that come with this movie. I'll skip the story line itself because it has been covered in plenty of the other reviews.
Loved this movie. I'm really not a fan of thriller pics, but Flightplan is one that I like. It stars Jodie Foster, who gives another awesome performance as she searches for her young daughter who disappears during a plane flight.
For a long time, no one knows if the daughter is real or make believe as she's not on the manifest. By the end, the truth is out. There are good extras on the DVD, and I'm a fan of extras.
The 'making of' the film is separated into several segments, so you can watch only what you are interested in or use the 'play all' to get the story in one swoop.
It totals roughly 40 minutes. Segments include the visual effects and how the casting was done. Another extra deals with how they designed the plane that was central to the story and how they were able to get the shots they did in a confined space.
This video is shorter, only about 9 minutes. Then there is the commentary, which was done by the director. This guy was prepared.
He talked the entire length of the film and he was in sync with what was being shown and had lots to share. He was easy to listen to and shared a lot of interesting facts about how and why they shot the movie.
Right out of the gate he explained how the movie was about going from confusion to clarity, and more. He included some tidbits on how the six-year-old girl playing Foster's daughter wanted to learn about her new craft.
He told how Jodie helped her to learn her marks and such. I found all of that intriguing, as much as how the set of the plane was designed and the conflict in deciding which filmed explosive scene near the end was used.
The director obviously put some time in as he prepared to do his commentary, and he showed in an excelled audio extra for viewers.
So, while thrillers aren't really my thing, the extras were well worth the DVD expense. One person found this helpful. Great movie.
