This film takes an artist of undisputed genius and puts him at the center of a blaxploitation film. Miles was not Superfly, "tryin' to get over.
This said, the actor portrayed Miles in drug-hazed physical and artistic decline very well. He clearly studied the polluted Miles of the Harry Reasoner and European interview footage very well, and portrayed what was then left of the man brilliantly.

The movie is fun and good. Cheadle is, as usual, accomplsihed. Ewan McGregor as the reporter whose intrusion facilitates the tale, is fine, but don't expect the life of Miles Davis to unfold on this particular screen.
I watched this three times during my rental. He sounds like Miles, he looks like Miles and he has Miles demeanor down pat.
