Like the classic zombie movies of George Romero it also pokes fun at modern society.
During the credits for example it shows people working their jobs bored out of their brains, people walking slowing through the streets, others waiting for the bus all acting like they are already the undead.
When she tackles Shaun to the ground Ed takes a picture of them together. The ending plays on that theme that people are already acting like the walking dead as well.
Overall great movie with great laughs making fun of zombies. This is a funny movie. I don't watch zombie stuff, I really do not like all of the gore.
This movie had some, not a whole lot, but then there was this unexpectedly super gory part towards the end that I was not expecting. It seemed to me to lose a lot of its funniness after that.
The best part is the first half. He is going through his day and so many people are so spaced out you can't really tell if the zombie epidemic has started or not.
Then after it starts, he is so used to people being out of it, and the neighborhood's casual vandalism, that he walks by half a dozen or so zombies without noticing them.
I went back and watched the first half again, it was that good. My boyfriend told me this was funny so we decided to watch this. He ordered this without my knowledge on my account and made me sit through this absolutely ridiculous movie.
I normally like English humour but this movie was so awful, I spent the majority of it getting myself drunk so I wouldn't have to take it seriously.
Even after an entire bottle of wine I thought it was bad. Don't pay for it. I thought it was time to upgrade to Blu-ray.
Since Blu-ray has better picture and sound. Since I've seen zombie films for a long long time. And this makes me laugh all the way through to the end.
Even George A Romero R. You didn't even know these actors and actresses in it but I laughed anyway in their British accent. Some of them had great lines.
A great storyline about a guy name Shaun but you'll have to see the rest of the movie to see if you'll like it. There were a lot great laugh scenes that I can't count.

You can tell they're great friends in real life. This movie is such a hilarious take on a normal reaction to a world ending scenario.
The humor is both dark and lighthearted. And Shaun is forced to face very tragic events but the movie cleverly turns it all into a comedic endeavor.

I like Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. They seem funny, creative guys on my wavelength. They also seem to want to recreate different classic genres, so this is their take on zombie movies - a homage to George Romero.
The plot is filled with funny stuff that appeals to my sense of humour. I think my favourite sci-fi is Paul, which as it was filmed in America, evidently had a bigger budget.
I guess Simon and Nick were getting better known. But this film is home grown and quirky, and really worth watching. Report abuse.

I first saw this movie on my honeymoon in a resort This is the movie that got me switched on to the whole Simon Pegg and Nick Frost combo having never seen the so much talked about Spaced.
I find the comedy style in most Simon Pegg movies to be refreshing and somewhat subtle when compared to the in your face slapstick Hollywood comedic styles.
I have to agree with the other reviews when they say that there are scenes with quite a bit of realistic gore in them that might make people cringe.
Also, there is slight amount of profanity in the movie All in all a funny movie with a change from American style comedies and it kind of has a compromise ending in the end where it isn't the happiest ending in the world, but at least everyone is sort of happy where they are!

His girlfriend Liz Kate Ashfield has asked him to make something of himself, but he cannot bring himself to change. Sick of playing second fiddle to Shaun's immature roommate, Ed, to beer, and to video games, Liz breaks up with Shaun.
Now Shaun must save his family and friends as chaos erupts through the city. It balances laugh-out-loud funny scenes such as when Shaun is so self-absorbed he doesn't see the zombies wandering around his neighborhood and then misses the news warnings because he is channel-surfing with some intense, suspenseful, and yes, very gory and bloody scenes for example, the zombies attack a man and pull various bloody organs out of his stomach.
Due to the gore, we don't recommend this movie for kids under Older teens and adults who are horror fans, however, are likely to enjoy the droll British humor and the homage to George Romero's zombie trilogy.
Families can talk about the appeal of zombie movies. How does this movie fit into the zombie genre, while also standing out from others?

A lot or a little? The parents' guide to what's in this movie. Positive Messages. Themes of trust and loyalty sincerely and ironically explored.
Some sexual references and crude humor concerning the lead character's mother. For example, when a zombie wanders into their living room they try all different kinds of methods to kill it including coach cushions, empty beer cans, and finally an ash tray that hits it in the head.
In another instance there are two zombies in their backyard and Shaun and Ed decide to throw records at them to try to kill them.
