However right from the start the firestick would randomly reboot after 5 minutes of operation - and then it would go into a continuous reboot cycle.
If I left it unplugged for an hour it would then start and work for another few minutes until I started to watch a show. After researching some people suggested that you needed to use amazons power supply - but I already was using amazons.
I tried one with a higher wattage and the firestick made it past the boot loop - but it still randomly rebooted or playback would stop suddenly.
So I figured 'hey maybe just some bad luck I will return it and get another'. The person I talked with for firestick support did not understand what a boot loop was, and their solution pressing back and down did not fix anything because the device rebooted before reaching the repair boot sequence.
Eventually the agreed to send a replacement but the replacement I received operated the same way. I will be returning both.
Pretty amazing for the price. Setup was very easy, everything you need is in the box. There is a much wider variety of setup options than I was expecting at this price point.
Netflix and Spotify apps open very fast, much faster than on my STB and work very well. Remote latency is almost non existent.
Miracast works excellent, nice shortcut to the pair screen by holding the home button down on the remote. This stick is a bit underpowered for casting video from my phone though.
There are some audio sync issues. Moving the phone closer to the stick seems to help. Pairing with my old BT keyboard took 2 seconds.
I was able to replicate the 'optimizing app' issue people have been talking about, unplugging and using the supplied power adapter is the fix.
It's nice that you can wake up your tv with just the Firestick remote. Wifi reception is not the best, but that may just be due to the proximity of the tv and all my audio equipment.
