Make no assumptions here about the genre; this is a character study. If you're looking for your average zombified killfest, look elsewhere.

However, if you are into watching a writer take a main character through the angst of worldly cares that soon pale to otherworldly ones, you'll enjoy this small movie.

One big plus is that there are no stupid for stupid sake moments in the movie, making this one of the rare zombie movies that values living brains over dead ones and real thrills over cheap ones.

The film does try out some new ideas like its possible to survive this virus is you can stay calm long enough for the body to fight it, but if you get angry or upset you become a zombie.

Also this Zombies do not like the flashes on cameras so you better hope you got an old camera around. I just felt like for being in Berlin there should have been a ton of zombies and so it did not really feel like they were in a major city sometimes.

The first time I watched the English dubbing was bad and toneless and made Michael seem incredibly whiney and annoying to the point I wanted to throw him to the zombies and it made the acting feel weaker.

So I watched it in German and liked it a lot better, the acting seemed fine and Michael did not seem that annoying. I am going to rate it a 6 average.

However if you enjoy a well written, directed and acted zombie movie like I do give it a chance despite the subtitles which I quickly adjusted to.

The Premise of the Movie : A man decides to surprise visit his girlfriend and try to mend their rocky relationship. His girlfriend lives in a appartment complex that has a courtyard in the middle which is significant to the movie.

After arriving to his girlfriends appartment he finds a father and son handyman team working on her heater however she had left to run some errands.

It is while waiting people start showing up in the courtyard and attacking residents of the complex which of coarse spreads the infection and the battle is on for survival of the residents and the boyfriend who still hopes to finf his girlfriend.

The zombies are mean, ugly and fast which adds to the tension of the residents trapped inside their appartments. I hope this rating assist anyone with questions about this movie.

I liked Zombie movies and purchased this one because of the great reviews. It wasn't what I expected.

The story line and actors were weak. I read through a lot of the reviews to be sure we watched the same movie because this movie was bad and felt misled by the positive reviews.

Want to see a great foreign zombie flick? Audio was glitches on the DVD. Tried the German and English, and subtitles on and off.

Tried putting audio in stereo. Even tried turning off my sound bar and using tv speakers. I ended up defaulting to the English subtitles so I could figure out what was going on.

Too bad the audio glitched, would of given it another star. I kinda dig "Bloody Disgusting Selects" material, this one did not disappoint even with the audio issues.

Played it on my PS3 you might have better luck streaming, and if I had to do it all over again I would of gone that route.

Straight from the start it's apparent that this is a very well photographed and effective looking piece; a washed out grey and bleak world is presented to the audience, no vibrantly saturated environments here.

This perfectly conveys the horror and isolation that the few protagonists face and feel. This isn't so much a film that concentrates singularly on the mass un-dead invasion but more a film about surviving and escaping from it.

Yes, the undead are in it, but what really draws you in and makes you start to care about a couple of the characters is how the besieged survivors are ever going to get out alive.

The film industry is full of bloated over-long releases, many of which could be cut by nearly half to produce a much better film.

This is where Rammbock shines and does a brave thing. The film runs at about one hour, a measly 60 minutes. Is this a bad thing? This film has no fluff, no padding to allow it to run to a 'commercially acceptable' time.

It's a perfect length and makes you realise how unnecessarily over-long many other films are. Great script, great cast and for once a great ending.

An excellent German film that deserves a wide audience. Fairly short film but very enjoyable. Instead of the usual sprawl of a zombie film with streets filled with the hordes of the living dead, this one concentrates, albeit briefly, with the lives of an apartment block whose story is probably repeated throughout Berlin.

Found it a very enjoyable and entertaining zombie film and probably one we could all relate to - how would we defend our small space as increasing zombies whittle away our existence to the space of a few rooms and less.

As usual, bad choices etc result in the usual reduced numbers - still, I felt for the characters even if we really only have a brief snapshot of their existence through windows in other apartments.

A very good addition to the zombie genre.
