If you're a fan of the first Anchorman movie or the other movies of Will Ferrell, you'll feel right at home and will be happy to know that it will be as hilarious as you expect it to be.
As for everyone else, the movie is a direct sequel to the original Anchorman movie and those that were unfortunate enough not to watch it may feel a bit lost.
There is a brief synopsis in the beginning of the previous movie, but it doesn't cover everything and without prior knowledge, I could see many people not getting the quirks and personality traits of each character, so many of the jokes may have a tendency to falter off or cause confusion in the unseasoned viewer.
If you're a fan of character driven, satirical and hilariously obsurd humor, you will definitely want to check this out, though I would highly reccommend you see the previous film.
If you aren't a fan of those comedic implications, you will want to steer very clear. I would also advise the same, if you have small children, that may view this movie, it is definitely NOT for children.
It is an excellent movie though and very funny, I thoroughly enjoyed it and reccommend it for anyone that loves to laugh.

The Blu Ray itself is really packed with worthwhile extras, including commentaries, deleted and alternative scenes etc Sadly most of these extras and behind the scenes peaks prove the old maxim that the more fun the actors have making the film, the less funny the end result on screen.
And they had a lot of fun making the film. Overall: slightly disappointing sequel but an a Blu Ray that over performs to compensate. Report abuse.
As a fan of the first movie, i was expecting more of the same. But alas it was not to be. Yes, there are plenty of scenes which do make you laugh out loud.
But again, there are some which make you think "why was this even considered". And not even the cameos at the end fight from many other big named stars could really make it better.
I'm not saying this is a bad movie, i laughed at many of the jokes in the film. But it could have been better. I heard dire reviews, but this was much better than expected.
Will have to watch it again this weekend to pick up the stuff I mixed first time round. Nice, not-so-subtle digs at CNN and their peers. Brick's wedding ceremony is a masterpiece.

There were big questions whether Will Ferrell as Ron Burgandy and co-writer, Adam McKay as director and co-writer, and Judd Aptow as producer united once again could pull this off.
At the start you get the familiar voice of Bill Kurtis as the commentator. Burgandy does his usual yelling to prepare himself.
The gist of the movie however is when Mack Tannen played by Harrison Ford offers Veronica the top newscaster job.
This is history making as she would be the first woman in that position. Burgandy is offended and not only losses his job but his wife as well.
The film then focuses upon Burgandy trying to climb the ladder back up to the top, while Veronica flourishes. The movie then makes some social commentary on current news as Burgandy makes a name for himself not reporting the hard news but trivia like car chases, the weather, home runs, and other such things on a 24 hours new network.
Did Ferrell, McKay and Aptow recreate the magic? Yes they did. The last one Fantana said he wore 4 out of the 7 times he had illegitimate children.
Sorry for the pun, but it should have been chopped. Ferrell and McKay also continued their love of great oldies putting just the right song with the right scene.
Overall, this was a very worthy sequel with tons of laughs. This one was an extremely stupider version of the first one.
I know this is just crude humor but it was rank and just disgusting. In NO way funny. I wasn't quite as big a fan of the first installment as many people were.
I liked it and some of it was really funny but it was largely the same set up to every gag and after a while I thought it got a bit repetitious.
The second movie is more of the same only with a lot more cameos and some even more way over the top schtick than the first time around. There are a few truly hilarious moments however.
When Meagan Good's character takes Ron home to meet the family the rampant political incorrectness and the families reaction to it are almost enough to save the movie by itself.
